Since being in NYC, I've been inspired to start a BLOG! (thanks Teddi). Primarily, it is just easier than *hoping* that people will see my random facebook status updates. And although I'm not doing a "family" blog like many of my friends are, I realized that I do cool stuff too that people want to know about, even though I may not be popping out babies (congrats Kelly & Barry and Sarah & Mark!).
I am committing to blogging at least 1x/week (I hope!) to keep you all updated on the happenings in my life as I travel, sing, work, play, sing some more, and whatever else I do.
I have fallen in love with NYC, the city, the streets, its people, the random street musicians, the culture, street vendors, and EVEN the smell of the subway in summer (okay, not really- it may be the skankiest smell I've experienced in quite some time). I also saw my FIRST off-Broadway show tonight- Altar Boys- and I highly recommend it to anyone who can attend. It was full of references that I never expected, including an old one from VBS- "here is the church, here is the steeple, open the doors, and see all the people!" Definitely a night to remember.
I'm in NYC working/ singing with Patricia Sage, who is the Founder/Director of the Wagner Theater Company, and the manager of 2 theaters associated with it. I am inspired when I work with her, coupled with the magic that is NYC. I am so grateful for the people that are in my life and the experiences I've had.
So I'm off to experience more NYC time and get away from the computer for a while. More to come at the conclusion of my trip. Ciao!
